Nassau homeowners may be hit with a property tax hike.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano included a 1.2 percent property tax hike in his budget proposal unveiled last month. The Nassau Legislature countered with a proposed budget of its own without a tax increase.
However, Mangano on Friday vetoed the Legislature's amended budget.
Regardless of what the Legislature's next move is, the Mangano administration claims that most people won't feel the effect of a tax increase. It says anyone making less than $500,000 annually will receive a rebate from the state that will offset any increase.
