Man swept away in Nissequogue River rescued in Smithtown Bay

The victim, who was suffering from hypothermia, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A man was rescued from the Nissequogue River in Smithtown Friday night.
Officials say they responded to a report of a man overboard. Dispatchers located the 45-year-old victim in the water, clinging to a channel marker before getting pushed out by the current into the Smithtown Bay.
Officers were soon able to relocate the man and pulled him on board the vessel.
The victim, who was suffering from hypothermia, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
