The man responsible for driving drunk and killing his girlfriend in 2001 was sentenced to six months in prison Friday.
Daniel Flynn was convicted of vehicular manslaughter in the death of Josephine Antonia Stroker, killed in an accident on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst. Flynn will serve his term at Suffolk County's DWI Alternative Facility.
The victim's mother, Josephine Coppola, was devastated by the sentence.
"To me, rehab is just a little walk in the park," Coppola said.
Flynn had avoided prosecution because the blood sample was protected by doctor-patient privilege. However, when Flynn filed suit against another driver in the accident, he unwittingly opened himself up to the charges.
