A Farmingville man was held on $80,000 bond Saturday in connection with an alleged home invasion shootout that put a little girl in danger.
Sukhman Janjua was held overnight at the Suffolk Police Department's 6th Precinct in Selden on a long list of charges. Police say he got into a shootout at his apartment around 2 a.m. Friday at the Fairfield Hills complex on Horizon View Drive.
Investigators say it began when two armed men broke into the 21-year-old's apartment demanding money and drugs. Janjua allegedly fired a shotgun at the robbers, and police say the thieves returned fire as they fled.
One of the bullets went into a nearby apartment, passing right over the bed where a 10-year-old girl was sleeping at the time, police say. She was not hurt.
Police say they found a large amount of drugs in the apartment, including heroin, marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, Oxycodone and crack-cocaine.
As he was being led by police out of the precinct Saturday morning, Janjua denied having any of those drugs. Asked by News 12 if he is a drug dealer, Janjua responded, "No."
He also said he does not know the identities of the two robbers who broke into his apartment. Police say they remain at large.
A 19-year-old man who was visiting Janjua's apartment at the time is also facing a drug charge, according to police.
