Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a reckless driving incident on the Long Island Expressway.
The incident happened earlier this month between exits 39 and 40.
As News 12 previously reported, a video was taken by a News 12 viewer of two cars speeding and recklessly weaving in and out of traffic on the expressway. The video was posted to Facebook and News 12 shared it with Nassau police.
"We immediately went to our social media monitors," says Nassau Police Detective Sgt. Patrick Ryder. "They started to data mine through that social media. They located a comment made by Mr. Anderson actually telling the guys 'take it down before I get in trouble.' Well, that was a little too late."
Police say 23-year-old Darren Anderson, of the Bronx, was driving a BMW in the video at speeds of more than 100 mph.
Investigators say Anderson was on his way to a BMW rally with dozens of other BMW owners.
Anderson was arrested Monday morning and is scheduled to appear in Hempstead court next month.
Anderson was released on an appearance ticket for reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor.
Police say they are still looking for at least two other people in connection with the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
