Man accused of DWI after hitting boy on bike in Riverhead

A Riverhead man had been arrested for allegedly driving drunk and hitting a little boy on his bike.
According to police, the 5-year-old was hit by a Cadillac truck Saturday around 6:40 p.m. at Lewis Street and Doris Avenue in Riverhead.
The boy suffered serious head injuries, but he is now in stable condition.
Police have now charged William Downing with DWI.
Downing was arraigned yesterday and released on bail.
