A man is accused of driving drunk and killing a pedestrian in the process.
Police say Jose Gaitan was driving in Huntington Station around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when he struck and killed Lucas Reyes. Reyes, 31, had been crossing at Depot Road and East 12th Street when he was struck.
Gaitan, 48, of Huntington Station, was arrested and faces a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip.
Gaitan's 1999 Nissan Maxima was impounded, and investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle around the time of the accident or who has information about the case to call 631-852-6555.
