When you think of Connecticut, you may not think of hand-crafted pewter products, but one shop has been making them the old-fashioned way in Woodbury for 70 years.

Woodbury Pewter has been hand-crafting pewter products since 1952.

It's a family run business that spins, casts, assembles, and finishes pewter.

Started by Ruth Holbrook and Lee R. Titcomb in a small blacksmith shop next to the historic Hurd House in the center of town, the business was relocated to its current location on Main Street South, in 1967.

Brooks Titcomb, the son of Lee R. Titcomb, says Woodbury Pewter was started by his father and his great aunt Ruth.

Brooks’ father would mix and make the pewter products, and Ruth would drive and deliver them across New England.

Brooks says not much has changed since then, but they have expanded their product catalog from around 30 items to over 1,000.

Woodbury Pewter includes custom work for companies and organizations like the US Tennis Association and the U.S. State Department.

Brooks says this time of year, they are creating thousands of Christmas ornaments.

"Quality is key for us. Every product we make," Brooks says.
