MacArthur Airport is going high tech to protect travelers during the pandemic.
Anti-microbial adhesive film called Silver Defender has been applied to high-touch surfaces like faucets and door handles throughout the terminal.
The film uses silver ions activated by light waves and salt on hands.
"We want travelers returning to the skies knowing safeguards are in place at Long Island Macarthur airport and on board their aircraft," says Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
There are also now PPE vending machines and hand sanitizer stations throughout the terminal.
