Long Islanders are making sure they're ready for this weekend's winter storm, with some telling News 12 Long Island they still plan on hitting the stores to do some shopping.
Many Long Islanders say they're still planning on going out shopping in the snow, not only to finish buying gifts, but to get shovels and other snow supplies.
Store owners say they always see an increase in sales before snow falls as people buy shovels and bags of salt.
Meanwhile, the LIRR says its pre-salting station platforms as a precaution and has diesel locomotives ready in case any trains break down.
