A nonprofit that pairs service dogs with wounded veterans received thousands of dollars in support from Long Islanders Thursday night.
America's VetDogs held its first fundraiser in Wantagh, and had raised thousands only a short time after the festivities began.
The event was organized by Long Island's Veolia Water, whose vice president is also a Marine Corps veteran.
He says he hopes to raise at least $20,000 with the inaugural event.
