The MTA will be holding its second public hearing on its
congestion pricing proposal for Big Apple tolls next week, and Long Islanders
are already unhappy with it.
The public had its first chance to weigh-in on the proposal
Thursday night.
The second public hearing is scheduled for Saturday.
Advocates working to combat intoxicated driving worry price
hikes could make cab rides too expensive for people who have been drinking,
creating a potentially dangerous situation.
The proposed pricing program would create new tolls for
those driving below 60th Street in Manhattan.
Customers who don't have E-ZPass could pay up to $34.50 more
per day driving into the area.
