Workers who left early to avoid the snowstorm Tuesday were met with heavy traffic delays before settling into their homes for the evening.

Commuters in Hicksville were brought to a standstill in the afternoon as many surrounding roads were not plowed.

Residents are being urged to stay home to avoid dangerous road and sidewalk conditions.

Snowfall accumulations are expected to be over 10 inches.
