Long Island residents are doing their best Tuesday to beat the oppressive heat.
Many took to the beaches and pools to find relief in the water. Nassau County pools are seeing crowds usually reserved for weekends. Officials say the concern is for those people who do not leave their houses and have no air conditioning. Residents should check on the elderly and pets during the heat advisory.
On the third day of the heat wave, people are advised to take it easy, stay in the shade and keep hydrated.
