The heat is almost too hot to handle Wednesday, however, Long Island residents are doing their best to cope.
There is an excessive heat warning out for the Island through Thursday and people are advised to try to stay indoors. Weather forecasters say the heat and humidity makes it feel like 105-115 degrees. Some commuters say even though the mercury is flirting with 100 degrees, it is about 5-10 degrees hotter in Manhattan.
Many residents do have to work outside in the sweltering heat. Health experts say the best thing to do is drink plenty of water and take many breaks.
