3 Long Island schools receive prestigious Blue Ribbon honors

Blue ribbons recognize schools with superior graduation rates and test scores.

There are big honors for some Long Island schools - three schools have been named Blue Ribbon winners by the United States Education Department.
The winners are Plainview-Old Bethpage's John F. Kennedy High, Wantagh High School and West Islip High School.
Blue ribbons recognize schools with superior graduation rates and test scores.
Also, schools with exemplary records in closing achievement gaps between students of different races, ethnicities and economic backgrounds.
