A robot will take the mound at Citi Field tonight, all because of the Locust Valley High School robotics team.
The ‘Falconbots’ will take the mound with their robot, which acts like a Mets pitcher, and it will be the first one to ever throw out the first pitch.
The team built the robot and their coach said it took three months to finish it.
The team says the machine is a video game controller attached to a cellphone. The phone sends a WiFi signal to a phone in the machine, then you push a button and it works.
The machine has maxed out at around 65 feet, which will be more than enough to get the ball from the mound to the plate tonight.
