Long Island bracing for potential flooding from all-day storms

Today's storm comes on the heels of a large system over the weekend that knocked out power to thousands across the island.

Long Islanders are bracing for the potential for flooding today as a massive system rolls through our area.

Flooding is the primary concern through Tuesday, with localized rainfall totals capable of exceeding 4 inches.

A few storms tonight could also produce gusty winds, while improving conditions are expected beginning Wednesday.

Flood Watch in effect through Tuesday morning for all of Long Island.

Heavy rainfall from repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms may result in flash flooding, especially in urban, poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Nassau County, Suffolk County, the Town of Southampton and the Town of Hempstead have all declared states of emergency.
