Ivy League Day Camp in Smithtown is updating and reminding families of its safety protocols in light of the devastating flash floods in Texas and the local August 2024 floods.
The flooding in Texas killed over 100 people, including 27 children at Camp Mystic.
The camp released the following safety measures:
Emergency Movement Protocols: Clear procedures are now in place to quickly relocate children and staff to higher ground and designated indoor shelters in the event of a flash flood warning.
Advanced Weather Monitoring: Improved systems to help the camp closely watch developing storms in real time.
Stormwater Mitigation Improvements: Enhanced infrastructure and revised processes now divert and manage stormwater more efficiently, helping minimize future flood risks.
