Long Islanders who own illegal exotic animals were offered a free pass Saturday.
The Suffolk SPCA and state Department of Environmental Conservation hosted an amnesty day at the Holtsville Ecology Site.
Anyone was allowed to surrender animals considered illegal to keep as pets with no questions asked.
SPCA Chief Roy Gross says that's way better than the alternative.
"If we find illegal animals or reptiles in your home, then you're not only facing criminal charges, but also charges from both the DEC and Suffolk SPCA," he says.
Some of the animals that were accepted include poisonous snakes, large lizards and wild cats.
