LIRR service restored after Jamaica brush fire

Long Island Rail Road service was restored Thursday evening after a brush fire stopped trains for hours. A brush fire knocked out parts of the signal system west of Jamaica Station around 1:30 p.m.

Long Island Rail Road service was restored Thursday evening after a brush fire stopped trains for hours.
A brush fire knocked out parts of the signal system west of Jamaica Station around 1:30 p.m. Trains were halted in both directions between Penn Station and Jamaica until 3:30 p.m., when limited service was restored.
By 4 p.m., LIRR was operating on a full evening rush hour schedule. LIRR told commuters to expect 15 to 20-minute delays. Some trains were also combined or canceled.
