The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) wasn?t taking any chances with Sunday?s storm.
The power authority had 100 extra crews ready to respond to any power outages or downed power lines that may have been caused by the storm.
"The snow is actually better for us than the ice and the wind,? LIPA president Kevin Law said. ?With the ice we run the risk of trees falling down on our wires, or people crashing into our poles."
Residents who need to report power outages should call LIPA at 1-800-490-0075.
