FORECAST:
Cold rain showers will be on and off tonight through early Wednesday morning. With temperatures on the borderline for freezing, freezing rain is likely on colder surfaces. That's when plain rain falls onto a cold surface and freezes. A glaze of ice is possible in areas north of the Merritt and north of the I-84 corridor.
Northern Litchfield County may see the most ice accumulate, as temperatures there will be coldest.
Temperatures closer to the Sound and along I-95 will be able freezing and in the middle 30s. It doesn't take much rain to fall to create some ice, so use caution. Surfaces that are untreated and appear wet could be slippery.
The showers will taper off during the morning hours. The Winter Weather Advisory is posted through 7 a.m. for part of Fairfield County.
By Wednesday afternoon, it will be dry and breezy. Temperatures will warm into the middle 40s.
More rain is likely Fridy and Saturday. Temperatures will rise even more with highs in the 50s by that point.
