Thousands of Long Islanders cast their votes Tuesday in the state's primary elections.
The presidential candidates were out in full force, begging supporters to show up and vote. It was the first time in decades that New York's primary was expected to play a pivotal role in the nomination process.
Only registered Republicans and Democrats were allowed to vote in the primary; no independents were allowed.
Republican front-runner Donald Trump was declared his party's winner. There are a total of 95 delegates at stake in the election.
On the Democratic side, there are 247 delegates up for grabs between front-runner Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
