Dozens of Long Islanders headed to Albany Tuesday to demand that minorities and the poor receive a quality education.
The group joined hundreds of protesters demanding changes including increased teacher diversity, culturally relevant education, positive school climate and sustainable community schools.
The group says New York still owes students across the state $4.2 billion in foundation aid, the majority of which is owed to low-income students, according to the New York State Board of Regents.
Gov. Cuomo has committed that he will deliver educational equity in this year’s budget.
