It was another scorcher Monday on Long Island.
Experts are urging Long Islanders to take proper safety precautions as they are faced with temperatures near 90 degrees.
LIPA says it's well prepared to handle the increase of homes using air conditioners due to the heat. However, they say weather conditions may cause energy problems in the next few days. LIPA is asking homeowners to help conserve energy by turning air conditioners off when going out. LIPA also says residents should avoid doing their laundry until the night, when less power is being used on the Island.
Experts are reminding Long Islanders to be sure to use plenty of sunscreen if going to the beach or even if they are simply working outside. Sunscreen should be put on every two hours, they say, and also re-applied after sweating or swimming.
