An alleged racially motivated attack on three black college students at SUNY Albany prompted a rally on campus Tuesday.

One of the three students allegedly attacked is from Long Island.

Asha Burwell, of Huntington Station, claims that she and her friends were verbally and physically attacked by fellow students while on a city bus Saturday night. She described the group as 12 white men and women.

Just moments after the alleged attack, Burwell sent out a series of tweets. One of which stated, "I just got jumped on a bus while people hit us and called us the "n" word and No One helped us."

Another claimed, "I begged for people to help us and instead of help they told us to 'shut the f- up' and continuously hit us in the head."

Campus police released a statement that said in part, "A review of the video from the [Capital District Transportation Authority] bus has established that the encounter began off campus with verbal exchanges, but that the physical confrontation took place after the bus had driven onto UAlbany's Main Campus. The CDTA bus video is also being used to identify the other persons involved, as well as potential witnesses. We will be reaching out to those who were on the bus as we identify them."

Police say they have spoken with two passengers on the bus and are reviewing cellphone videos of the incident.
