Reaction on former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein?s execution was mixed around the world, but on Long Island most people say justice was served.
Hussein was hanged just before dawn Saturday in Iraq after being convicted of war crimes committed in 1982. Neil Holloran of East Northport is a former Marine. His son is a major in the Army and spent more than a year in Iraq. Holloran runs a group called LI Parents of the Deployed. He says the execution of Saddam Hussein is welcome news for most with loved ones overseas.
Most Long Island residents say Hussein's hanging was a necessary step in the war against terror. Holloran hopes the execution of Saddam Hussein brings the U.S. one step closer to bringing all the soldiers home from Iraq.
