LI Hospitality Association starts GoFundMe to raise money for hospitality workers
The Long Island Hospitality Association has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for hospitality workers impacted by COVID-19.
LIHA says all funds raised by the GoFundMe drive will be distributed to hospitality workers that have served Long Island communities and have been essential to the foundation of Long Island.
The organization says the hardworking and passionate hospitality professionals were among the first to be impacted by coronavirus and as a result are now struggling to provide for themselves and their families.
Funds will be distributed to applicants that meet certain criteria. The criteria includes applicants that have workers in a single Long Island-based hospitality organization for at least 12 consecutive months leading to COVID-19, applicants who earn $45,000 or less annually, applicants who worked 30 hours per week or more, applicants who can provide proof of furlough or terminations and applicants that are currently furloughed or unemployed.

As of Wednesday, the GoFundMe raised more than $4,000 of their $10,000 goal.
