A hiker from Long Island was rescued after falling off a ledge on Hook Mountain in Upper Nyack.
Rescue crews worked for four hours to get to the stranded hiker, a 35-year-old from Freeport.
Police say they received a call around 12:30 p.m. that the hiker had injured a leg in a fall off a cliff. The Rockland County High Angle Rescue team joined the rescue effort to extract the man from the mountainside.
The area is extremely rugged environment that has heavy woods and steep, rocky terrain.
The injured hiker was taken to Nyack Hospital, but his condition is not known.
