A Suffolk County Lyft driver's civil rights lawsuit accuses Nassau police of unlawfully arresting him and beating him.
The lawsuit filed on behalf of the driver, Yves Blaise, names the county, police department and eight detectives.
The lawsuit says those detectives were waiting at a North Bellmore home for a suspect who was scamming a grandmother in 2022.
Court papers say Blaise arrived near the woman’s home to pick up a passenger. The suit says he was mistakenly arrested.
The lawsuit accused the detectives of breaking his ribs and chipping his tooth. Blaise is suing for damages.
News 12 asked the county and the police department for a comment but has not heard back.
