A Kings Point official has settled a sexual harassment case by agreeing to 14 hours of community service.
News 12 Long Island spoke to the alleged victim who says the incident happened at Temple Israel in Great Neck.
Joanna Cronin says she was at a baby-naming ceremony at the temple when the deputy mayor of Kings Point, 74-year-old David Harounian, said he needed to ask her some question in the hallway. That's when she says he forced her to put her hands on her chest.
Cronin says she came forward to police about being assaulted in late October to teach her daughter to speak up.
"I did this for other women who unfortunately weren't as strong to come forward and say what happened to them," said Cronin.
Under his agreement in court, Harounian will not get any jail time, will perform 14 hours of community service and must not have any contact with Cronin.
Cronin says she's not entirely pleased with the outcome in court.
If Deputy Mayor Harounian performs the community service, doesn't violate the order of protection and doesn't get arrested, the charges could be dismissed after 6 months.
