A game between graduating Kings Park High School seniors took a dangerous turn Monday night when a male student was struck by a car in a parking lot.

According to police, 18-year-old Charles Tumminello was struck by a Lexus driven by a friend, 18-year-old Nina Lisske. At the time, they were involved in a game known as “senior assassin.”

Dane Ferretti, who graduated last year and played the game, explains that seniors are randomly assigned a “target” who they have to shoot with a water gun. If you are shot, you are out.

“It was all across town. You just had to find your target wherever they were, but you couldn't do it at work or in their home, but you can do it anywhere else,” says Ferretti.

Matt Pond says he witnessed the incident.

“They were driving in circles and shooting water guns at each other,” says Pond. “He was jumping in one direction. And she was turning in the same direction...She obviously didn't mean to hit him.”

Pond says he saw Tumminello hit the back of his head on the ground. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Lisske stayed at the scene and was summonsed for reckless driving.

News 12 left several messages for the school district but has not heard back.

Tumminello was originally listed as critical, but the hospital says he's in serious condition.
