Sag Harbor’s Jimmy Buffett joined cast members on the red carpet in Los Angeles Tuesday night for the newest opening of “Escape to Margaritaville,” the musical.

Tuesday’s event was the opening of the stage musical based on Buffett’s famous songs. After a run on Broadway, the show is now on a national tour.

Buffett took time to credit the writers of the show, saying they've made it work because they draw from personal experience.

"…They knew how to do it from livin' it,” said Buffett. “And it shows, I think."

National dates for the tour are booked through mid-August.
