The head of the Islip Town Conservative Party is accused of lying about his arrest record.
Michael Torres is accused of concealing his criminal history when applying for a seat on Islip's assessment review board.
Prosecutors say he checked the 'no' box when it asked if he had any convictions. They say he actually had two misdemeanor convictions.
Torres pleaded not guilty and his lawyer says he'll be cleared of the charges.
