A 76-year-old woman suffered a broken leg after being run down in the parking lot of the Walt Whitman Mall during an apparent road rage incident.
Police say an 84-year-old man ran over the woman with his Honda SUV around 1:30 p.m. yesterday. Investigators say the two senior citizens were fighting over a handicapped parking space near Bloomingdale's. They say the 76-year-old woman was standing in the parking space to hold it for a friend.
According to witnesses, the 84-year-old man drove up to the space and yelled at the woman to get out of the way. When she didn't move, investigators say the man struck her with his SUV.
She was airlifted to NUMC where's she's listed in serious condition with a head injury and a broken leg.
Police say no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed. However, police say the man has been questioned.
