Instagram announced today that it rolled out a new restrict feature aimed at battling social media bullies.
The way it works is when you restrict a user, comments they post to your account will only be seen by them.
Angelo Sample, of Syosset, says he stood up for himself but had a tough time with bullying on social media.
"I think that's amazing," says Sample. "Personally in high school I got bullied at one point.
To use the new feature, find a comment from the user you want to restrict and swipe left. Then click on the exclamation point and select the "restrict feature."
Unlike blocking, the user won't be able to tell that you've restricted them.
Sample says he wishes the feature would have been available when he was struggling.
