Increased overnight service begins on NYC subways

Long Islanders heading to the city this week can now ride the subway earlier in the morning or later into the night.
Starting today, the MTA increases overnight subway service.
Riders can now start taking the subway at 4 a.m. each day. However, the subways will still close overnight between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. for trains to be disinfected.
Since May 2020, the subway has been closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. for daily disinfection.
A recent survey by Hofstra University found three out of four riders felt safer riding the subway as a result of COVID-19 cleaning.
