Police say there was a break-in at Uniondale's California Avenue Elementary School.

They say it happened before midnight Wednesday.

In-person learning has been canceled at the school for today. The school says students will be able to return for in-person instruction Friday.

The school issued a statement saying, “The perpetrators were apprehended and detained until the Nassau County police arrived on the scene."
