The Long Island man whose estranged wife went missing last month says he believes that she is still alive.
Carlos Aucapina has been married to his wife, Lilia, for 21 years. They have two children together.
But the same day Lilia disappeared, Aucapina had been charged in a disturbance at a Wainscott parking lot connected to an alleged violation of an order of protection his wife had requested.
Because of the arrest, Aucapina's attorney Colin Astarita says people suspect his client had a role in the disappearance.
Astarita says his client has provied police with bank statements and cellphone records along with volunteering to take a lie detector test in a bid to prove his innocence.
Lilia Acupina's neice has told News 12 that it's unlikely her aunt would have run off without her children.
Police are still examining the results of the lie detector.
Anyone with information on Lilia Aucapina's whereabouts is asked to call Southampton police at 631-728-5000.
