A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Suffolk County on Sunday evening.

Bacilio Mardoqueo Vasquez Vasquez, 44, of Huntington Station, was hit while crossing New York Avenue, according to police.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. just south of West 19th Street in Huntington Station.

Suffolk police tell News 12 the driver of the SUV that hit the pedestrian did not stop and continued northbound on New York Avenue.

The vehicle is believed to be a grey Toyota with front-end damage on the driver’s side.

The victim was taken to Huntington Hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
