Huntington is proposing an overhaul to Huntington Village parking regulations.
Under the proposal, parking meter fees would rise from 25 cents to $1. Two-hour parking limits would be increased to three-hour parking in some areas. Fines for parking violations would also go up, from $25 to $50.
The proposal is being met with criticism from some business owners.
"It's the largest detriment to business within our village," says John Vater, who runs Spa Adriana on Main Street.
Huntington spokesman A.J. Carter says the town is not anti-business and that the new rules would ease parking problems.
"One of the main goals is to increase the availability of spaces directly in front of stores, to have that turn over more," says Carter.
