Huntington Hospital is notifying around 13,000 patients about a former employee accessing personal information.
Officials say the then-employee accessed patient records from October 2018 to February 2019.
The unauthorized information included names, addresses and medical diagnoses.
The former employee reportedly accessed Social Security numbers and insurance or payment-related information.
The employee was immediately suspended and then fired.
After an investigation, the person was charged with a criminal HIPAA violation.
