Islanders Hall of Famer Clark Gillies is opening his heart and his wallet to help expand Huntington Hospital.
The hospital is building a new state-of-the-art emergency department that would double its current capacity. Gillies' foundation is donating money for the pediatric emergency treatment area.
"It's a great moment in our foundation to be able to be part of the expansion here at the hospital," says Gillies.
The hospital is hoping the new emergency department will be open by the beginning of next year.
