Hundreds of LI families may qualify for extra tax credit

Hundreds of Long Island workers may be in jeopardy of losing out on thousands of dollars in tax credits simply because they don't know what may be available to them. The Earned Income Tax Credit is a special credit for families earning less than $49,000 a year. One Coram mother says she missed out on the credit for years, until last year, when she filed for it and got a nearly $10,000 credit. Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) says the tax credit can truly have an impact on Long Island's economy.
