According to AAA, more Americans are expected to travel farther this holiday season. From Today to Jan. 2 around 92 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more to visit family and friends.
While many people will fly, AAA says that the majority of Americans will travel by car, despite the higher gas prices.
Winter storms across the country though will cause delays for most travelers. The tornado that hit Alabama left many roads impassable. Snow in Kansas and Colorado shutdown roads and caused many delays and cancellations at area airports.
For those staying in the area, the Long Island Railroad is running 14 extra trains out of Penn Station in an attempt to make commutes into the city easier for holiday riders.
