The power supply charge on PSEG customers' bills has risen nearly 35 percent over the past six months.

Customers are now paying nearly $14 a month more than they were paying in January.

LIPA board member Matthew Cordaro says three elements are racking up rates: a rise in fuel cost, extra energy used in the summer and the fact that less people are relying on standard electricity sources.

"In essence we have no control of it," says Cordaro.

PSEG tells News 12 Long Island that that bills should start to balance out and customers should start to see more steady and consistent rates going forward.
