A 29-year-old woman was walking on Front Street in the Village of Hempstead when two men wearing helmets shot and robbed her on Tuesday night, police say.
Police are calling the shooting and robbery a "crime of opportunity."
The victim says she was walking home from work when it happened.
The two men rode up to her on a motorcycle.
She was then shot in the arm and had her debit card, AirPods and phone charger stolen before the two men rode away, according to officials.
Police say they are still working on a description of the two men because they were wearing helmets.
Both Hempstead Village and Nassau police are investigating.
The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition with what police are injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
