Two people with the same medical woes could have different health outcomes depending on whether they?re rich, poor, or a minority. It?s a nation-wide problem that State Senator John Sampson (D-Brooklyn)highlighted Friday at a Hempstead public health forum.
Sampson and his staff were on hand to record the experiences of Long Islanders like Rosemarie Robedee, a single working mother who says she struggles to get quality health care for her children.
Sampson, who heads a senate task force on health care disparities, plans three more forums state-wide so he can talk to doctors, patients and administrators to make recommendations that may help everyone get access to quality health care. His report is scheduled for release this summer.
