WHAT'S NEW: Tuesday was a scorcher with Islip Airport hitting 94 degrees and a heat index of 105. Tuesday's record high is 100 set in 2001.
WHAT'S NEXT: Wednesday won't be as hot and humidity will come down in the coming days. Expect a few more showers and storms through Thursday before we're in the clear heading into the weekend. Drought conditions likely continue for Long Island.

OVERNIGHT: Chance for a stray shower or storm early then partly cloudy, warm, and muggy. Lows near 74. Southwest to north wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 5:58.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with the chance for a stray shower or storm. Not as hot with highs near 84. Lows near 72. North to east wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunset: 7:57.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Chance for a few showers and storms with lows near 72. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
THURSDAY: Chance for a shower or storm, mainly in the morning then partly sunny. Highs near 82. Lows near 65.
FRIDAY: Nice and dry. Less humid with highs near 82. Breezy at times. Lows near 65.
